Oxera grows senior team with four new promotions to Partner and Principal grade

We are delighted to announce the promotions of three Principals to Partner and one Senior Consultant to Principal grade, with immediate effect. This is in recognition of the individuals’ considerable contributions to Oxera’s Transport, Competition and State Aid practices.

Michele Granatstein joined Oxera in 2010. She leads Oxera’s Aviation team, providing advice to airports, airlines, air navigation service providers, and policymakers. Michele focuses on regulatory and competition issues, and has worked across a range of jurisdictions. She has recently been involved in a number of abuse of dominance cases and price control reviews, and has provided due diligence advice in the sector. Andrew Meaney, Partner and Head of Oxera’s Transport team, said:

I’m delighted to welcome Michele into Oxera’s Partnership as Head of Aviation. She has made huge strides forward in the development of our Aviation practice, covering four continents, and combining the full breadth of Oxera’s expertise into a range of high-quality work for our clients. I look forward to working with Michele as the transport sector copes with today’s unprecedented times, and through to the other side.

Joseph Bell joined Oxera in 2013 and is one of the leading advisers in Oxera’s Competition Litigation practice. With a background in both economics and accountancy, Joseph specialises in the quantification of damages in relation to stand-alone and follow-on antitrust cases. He is experienced in working with claimant and defendant law firms, funders and corporates across Oxera’s jurisdictions and sectors.

Oxera Partner Robin Noble said:

We are excited to announce that Joseph has been promoted to Partner. He has a long history of working on high-profile litigations: Gas Insulated Switchgear, Interchange, High Voltage Cables, and Trucks, and he has been involved in the newest areas of antitrust litigation, including collective damages claims. As such, we welcome Joseph into the senior leadership team and look forward to him continuing to grow and push forward the frontiers in our field.

Dr Alexander Gaigl joined Oxera in 2011. After several years working from the Oxford and London offices, in 2015 he moved to join our team in Berlin. Alexander has worked on competition and litigation cases across many jurisdictions and industries, including in the role of appointed expert.

Oxera Partner Enno Eilts said:

We welcome Alexander in joining the Oxera Partnership. Alexander joined the firm almost ten years ago, the last two of which were in the role of Principal. Alexander’s promotion to Partner reflects his excellent work and growing practice in the areas of competition economics and follow-on antitrust damages. He is our second Partner in the Berlin office, reflecting the substantial growth of Oxera in Germany and internationally.

Roberto Alimonti joined Oxera in late 2017, and has contributed to the successful expansion of the Rome office and the business’s growth within the Italian market. He specialises in the field of competition, and has significant expertise in state aid and quantification of follow-on antitrust damages. Roberto has acquired a strong reputation for his work on a number of high-profile cases on behalf of private and public sector clients across many industries and jurisdictions. Dr Leonardo Mautino, Partner and head of Oxera’s Italy team, said:

We are delighted to welcome Roberto to his new role of Principal and as a senior member of the Italy team. His promotion reflects the strong impact of Oxera’s work in the areas of competition, state aid and litigation in Italy. We look forward to seeing him lead and further develop his areas of expertise in the coming years.
