Oxera continues to grow its senior team with the announcement that Bastian Gottschling joins as a Partner in Frankfurt.
- Bastian Gottschling is an experienced expert in energy economics, financial valuation and damages quantification. He provides economic dispute support in investment arbitration, commercial disputes and tax disputes.
- His appointment further strengthens Oxera’s response to the appetite for applying economics and finance to decision making and dispute resolution in Germany and internationally.
Today we announce that Bastian Gottschling is joining Oxera to co-lead our expanding team in Germany. Bastian has 15 years’ experience in economic consulting. He joins us from NERA, where he assisted clients with economic analysis of competitive and regulated markets, complex valuation analysis and expert testimony in high-stakes energy arbitrations. Before joining NERA, Bastian acted as mergers and acquisition adviser in the energy and infrastructure team of the investment bank Rothschild.
Bastian joins Partners Dr Alexander Gaigl and Enno Eilts—both experts in competition economics and litigation. Together—along with our excellent team of economists and finance experts in Germany—they will provide Oxera’s full range of expertise tailored to the unique challenges and structure of the German market. Oxera’s presence in Germany represents one of six countries that together form a network for sharing expertise and insight across Europe.
Bastian’s appointment, and the continued growth of Oxera’s talented team in Germany, demonstrates Oxera’s ambition to further strengthen our European litigation, energy, competition and regulatory practices, as well as provide a broad range of expertise to both national and international markets.
Commenting on Bastian’s appointment, Dr Alexander Gaigl, Partner and Head of Oxera’s office in Berlin, says that he is ‘thrilled to welcome a talented and experienced professional such as Bastian to the team’ and that he ‘looks forward to the opportunity to create stronger ties with our clients in Germany, as well as internationally.’
Oxera’s Chairman Dr Luis Correia da Silva remarks that ‘economics and finance are playing an increasingly important role in decision making across the world, no more so than in Germany. The current instability of markets and the rise of complex competition and regulatory issues—including those in commercial disputes and valuation—demand more economic expertise and insight than we’ve ever known.’
Commenting on his appointment, Bastian says: ‘I am excited to join Oxera, whose values of integrity, insight and passion for work I hold dear, and to collaborate with such dynamic and talented colleagues to further develop Oxera’s international offering.’
