Joseph Bell promoted to Principal

In recognition of his considerable success in Oxera’s Litigation practice, Oxera has promoted Joseph Bell from Senior Consultant to Principal.

Joseph joined Oxera in 2013 as a member of Oxera’s Competition team. Since then he has worked on several high-profile cases, including the Mastercard damages litigation and European Commission antitrust proceedings, National Grid’s claim for damages following the gas insulated switchgear cartel, and the UK’s first collective proceedings claim at the Competition Appeal Tribunal (Dorothy Gibson v. Pride Mobility).

Robin Noble, Partner and Board Member stated:

‘We are delighted to welcome Joseph to his new role of Principal. He is a talented economist who has a long history of advising clients on contentious matters. He has provided expert advice on cartel damages, Article 101, and impact assessment, to clients such as Stagecoach, Mastercard and National Grid. Joseph will continue to play a vital role in the development of Oxera’s Litigation and Financial Services practices, and support our international expansion.’

Joseph added: ‘This is an important time in competition litigation—new thinking from competition authorities, the implementation of the Damages Directive, and the increasing emphasis on collective actions in a number of jurisdictions are bringing new challenges and opportunities for our clients. I look forward to continuing to contribute to Oxera’s long-established Competition practice, and working to find practical ways in which economics can assist in these matters.’
