Szilvia Flanek Analyst

Szilvia is a member of Oxera’s Analytics and Competition teams. She uses economics and analytical tools, including econometric modelling and data science, to provide solutions for a range of issues facing clients. She has undertaken analysis estimating the impact of policies in aviation and energy regulation, supported companies in water regulatory benchmarking, and assisted in the preparation of expert reports in litigation, mergers, and market investigations with econometric analysis.

Before joining Oxera, Szilvia graduated with a Master’s in Economics from the Central European University, where she specialised in applied econometrics and microeconomics.

  • Provided analysis for an expert report in the market investigation of an online retail service (2023–24)

  • Provided analysis of market definition and potential harms (vertical, horizontal and innovation) on a global merger involving pharmaceutical companies with Phase I clearance in the EU (2023)

  • Assessed the national economic impacts of night flights at a London airport using transport appraisal methods (2023)

  • Advised a global telecoms firm in relation to standard essential patent (SEP) royalties as part of a multi-jurisdictional patent litigation, with a specific focus on quantitative estimation of pass-on (2022–23)
