Danyal Khan : Data Scientist

Danyal is a member of Oxera’s Analytics and Data Science team. He specialises in applying econometrics, causal inference and AI engineering to deliver evidence-based insights across sectors including energy, retail and digital. His experience spans damages quantification in high-profile litigation cases, policy and market-design evaluations using Monte Carlo simulations, and the development of AI tools such as RAG applications and human-in-the-loop agents.

Before joining Oxera, he gained experience across competition, space and digital projects. He holds an MPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford and a BSc in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

  • Supported drafting of methodology and data sections for expert reports in a litigation before the Competition Appeals Tribunal; conducted econometric and causal inference techniques to estimate overcharge and prepared reconciliations of datasets. (2024–25)

  • Supported estimation of wage differentials in a gender discrimination case before the Employment Tribunal; utilised machine learning techniques and AI workflows

  • Supported pass-on econometric analysis in a cartel litigation case before the Competition Appeals Tribunal, including large-scale data cleaning, model specification, and robustness checks (2024–25)

  • Led development, prototyping and rollout of several AI/LLLM tools for project teams (2025)
