Seminar on the Foreign Subsidies Regulation
Join us on 2 February 2023 to hear from some of the foremost experts on the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (‘FSR’), including Ben Smulders, Deputy Director-General, State Aid, DG Competition; Christof Schoser, Head of Commission Task Force on the FSR; Ianis Girgenson, Group General Counsel, United Group; and Denis Redonnet, Deputy Director-General, Chief Trade Enforcement Officer, DG Trade; as well as representatives from EU and third-country industries and companies.
Register below to attend:
In the autumn of 2022, the EU adopted the FSR. The FSR will give the European Commission new powers to ‘effectively tackle foreign subsidies that cause distortions and undermine the level playing field in the internal market’. This new Regulation, which the Commission believes will close a gap in its current toolbox, will come into force across the EU from mid-2023.
The discussions, held over the course of an afternoon and chaired by Sir Philip Lowe and Lode Van Den Hende, will cover both strategic and high-level issues in relation to the FSR, as well as the practical, concrete questions facing companies and practitioners. The upcoming Commission draft-implementing regulation, setting out what must be included in notifications and further procedural details, will also be discussed.
