The Brexit Lectures: Passporting: what access will UK financial institutions retain to EU markets?

As the financial services industry becomes ever more globalised, the ability to serve customers across Europe has grown to become a lynchpin of many UK financial firms’ strategies. The vote to leave throws up a host of different scenarios for UK-based financial services, from retaining single market access, equivalency under MiFIR and other legislation to having to fall back on WTO rules, which have little to say on questions of regulatory harmonisation. This lecture will explore these various scenarios, their impact on the UK financial services industry and what measures organisations can begin to take to prepare.

This lecture will be delivered by Jonathan Faull, and will be followed by a panel discussion with respondents (to be confirmed). The evening will take place at the Institute of Directors in London, and will begin with networking and refreshments from 6.30 pm.
