Stéphane Dewulf appointed as Principal

We are delighted to announce that Stéphane Dewulf is joining Oxera in Brussels as a Principal from today, 1 September 2020. Stéphane is an economist who specialises in competition law matters, with experience as both a consultant and an enforcer. Until April this year, he worked at the European Commission Directorate-General for Competition, where for six years he dealt with merger control and antitrust investigations, with a focus on the energy sector as well as IT, the Internet, media and telecommunications.

Stéphane also worked for eight years as an economist at two leading economics consultancies. There, he worked in the field of competition policy, advising companies on mergers, horizontal and vertical agreements, and abuse of dominance, mostly in the context of investigations by the European Commission and other competition authorities in Europe, but also in the context of private litigation.

His experience in the private sector covers a wide range of sectors, including the Internet, media, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, consumer electronics, air transport, basic industries, manufacturing, FMCG, and banking.

Partner Maurice de Valois Turk says:

‘We are delighted to have Stéphane join us and bring further breadth to our Brussels office and our pan-European Competition team. We believe his experience as consultant and ex-enforcer will be particularly appreciated by our clients.’

On his appointment Stéphane says:

‘I have had the chance to collaborate on several merger and antitrust cases with Oxera’s economists during my years at the European Commission. On these occasions, I was impressed by their analytical excellence and the effectiveness of their reports. I am now very much looking forward to joining this ambitious team of economists and contributing to the expansion of Oxera’s antitrust and merger practice in Brussels.’
