Oxera announces today that José M. Abad will join its Madrid-based team as a Partner, effective from 1 June 2026. As an award-winning specialist in financial economics and banking, he will lead Oxera’s financial regulation practice across Iberia.
José brings over 15 years of experience in financial economics, including banking analysis, regulation and advisory. His career spans investment banking, multilateral institutions, government and academia, giving him broad cross-sectoral knowledge and deep technical expertise. Prior to joining Oxera, José was Senior Adviser at Oliver Wyman, Consultant at the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC), Financial Sector Expert at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Senior Bank Analyst at Goldman Sachs, and Chief Economist at Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO).
He has also been awarded two of Spain’s most prestigious banking and finance research awards: the Federico Prades Prize (2022) of the Spanish Banking Association (AEB) and the Antonio Dionis Soler Prize (2025) of the Spanish Society of Financial Analysts.
In his new role, José joins Oxera’s senior Financial Services team and will lead its work in supporting its clients in financial services, regulation and government to navigate complex markets across Spain, Portugal, Latin America and globally.
