Oxera appoints Anthony Julius to Chair its Governing Board as it converts to LLP status

Independent economics consultancy continues to invest in its growth strategy

Leading European economics consultancy, Oxera, has today announced that it has appointed legal heavyweight and respected academic and author Anthony Julius to Chair its Governing Board, as it completes its conversion to an LLP structure.

The decision to adopt LLP status was taken in order to support Oxera’s commitment to attracting and retaining the best talent in the economics industry. This approach is further reflected by the appointment of Anthony Julius as Chair. A highly-respected lawyer, Anthony Julius has worked at Mishcon de Reya for over 30 years and is currently Deputy Chair of the firm. He is also a recognised academic, holding the post of visiting professor at Birkbeck College, London University, was previously chairman of the London Consortium, and is a critically claimed author, having written extensively on law, literature, art, and culture.

Commenting on the appointment, Anthony Julius said: ‘Anyone even coming close to Oxera would be impressed by the practical intelligence, commercial judgement, originality of thought and acknowledged integrity, of its economists. Having served two years on the board, it was a very considerable honour to be invited to become its Chair. I am looking forward to working with my Oxera colleagues to continue developing our business by serving our clients.’

The announcements are the latest in a year of significant growth for Oxera, as it expands its reach and capability across new and existing areas—including state aid, litigation support and health—enhancing its cross-sector experience and economics know-how. In the last 12 months the consultancy has expanded further into Europe, increasing the number of consultants by 20%, opening a new office in Berlin, and enhancing its senior team in Brussels. In October last year, Oxera revealed the results of a corporate rebrand, which included the launch of an updated, award-winning website.

Paul Breakwell, Chief Operating Officer at Oxera, commented: ‘As the recognition of the significant role an economics consultancy can play in the marketplace increases, both now and into the future, we are excited at being able to meet that need in Europe and beyond, across a range of sectors and as a collegiate partnership.’
