On 14 February 2017, AREL hosted a seminar in Rome focusing on the regulation of the waste sector in Italy. The seminar was inspired by a study conducted by Oxera and focused on evaluating an option that has been long discussed in Italy: the possible extension of the Italian Regulatory Authority's responsibilities to cover the waste sector, as well as electricity, gas and water. 

The seminar was opened by Enrico Letta of AREL. The introductory report was delivered by Oxera Associate, Alfredo Macchiati, and Oxera Partner, Leonardo Mautino.
