Internships

Oxera offers a wide range of paid internship opportunities. Many of our interns return as full-time employees after completing their internship and/or their studies.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working for an international company, learn about economics consulting, and get to know Oxera. We create a work programme tailored to each intern, taking into account their individual interests and skills. All our interns benefit from the support and management of a dedicated consultant during their time with us.

Long-term internship—Brussels and UK
  • You need to restructure a major European football club. What is the best financial strategy that will be compatible with state aid rules?
  • How can you assess the damages suffered by a company that has bought products from a cartel?
  • Two large telecom providers want to merge. What impact will this have on competition in Europe?
  • Online platforms continue to expand into new areas. How are they affecting existing markets, and are they treating their users fairly?

If you can’t wait to begin exploring these fascinating questions, we have the job for you. Oxera, one of Europe’s leading microeconomic and finance consultancies, is looking for one intern to be based in our Brussels office and one intern to be based in our Oxford or London office.

The long-term internship in Brussels should be from four to nine months in duration. Applicants who are looking to undertake an internship in collaboration with their university (convention de stage/stages en entreprises, for example) should state this in their applications. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and have completed (or be working towards) a postgraduate degree in Economics, Econometrics, Finance or Data Science. Fluency in English and French is essential, whereas a third European language is highly desirable, particularly Italian, German or Dutch.

The long-term internship in the UK should be approximately 12 months in duration—from July 2019 to June 2020, for example. Applicants must be completing the second year of their undergraduate degree. This long-term internship can provide a year in industry for penultimate-year students as part of an undergraduate sandwich degree. We also consider applications from undergraduate second-year students who are taking a gap year. In addition to excellent spoken and written English, fluency in a second European language, particularly French, German, Dutch or Italian, would be advantageous.

  • Outstanding academic credentials in economics—particularly microeconomics, econometrics and/or finance
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong potential to build client relationships and manage projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas in a structured and clear manner
  • Highly motivated and committed team players
