Lorenz is a member of Oxera’s Analytics team. He has extensive experience of using a variety of statistical tools and machine learning applications across a wide range of applied economic research. Previous work includes a project to evaluate the impact of the 2008/09 stamp duty holiday in Wales. This analysis was completed using official data from HMRC.
Lorenz joined Oxera in February 2020, after completing a PhD in applied econometrics at the University of Exeter. His thesis studied the impact of reputational considerations in indefinite interactions. Lorenz was previously employed as a postdoctoral research fellow at an Exeter-based think tank studying tax administration and policy. During his time at the University of Exeter, he took on substantial teaching duties within the Economics department, giving lectures and tutorials for undergraduate modules in econometrics, machine learning and industrial organisation.
