An analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of different Net Zero targets in Jersey



Following the Jersey States Assembly’s declaration of a Climate Emergency in May 2019, the Government of Jersey is aiming to achieve carbon neutrality (Net Zero). The Government has defined this as balancing emissions from on-island generated greenhouse gas emissions and from imported electricity against any activity that captures, absorbs or reduces global emissions so that they are equal. The Government has invited Jersey’s first Citizens’ Assembly to recommend the scale of Jersey’s ambition for Net Zero and the deadline for achieving this.
