Au revoir to Pascale Déchamps

Oxera Partner Pascale Déchamps takes on a new role at the French Competition Authority.

Pascale joined Oxera in 2013 and has made a remarkable contribution to the firm’s growth. Her expertise, experience and passion for economics have been recognised on numerous occasions by clients, regulators and judges, and formally by Global Competition Review and Who’s Who Legal.

Pascale, who has been an adviser to the French Competition Authority for four years, is now taking on a permanent position at the Authority. We are pleased that this is not ‘goodbye’ but ‘au revoir’, as Oxera will doubtless have the opportunity to collaborate with Pascale through our work in France.

Our clients in France will continue to benefit from the insight of our European team, as well as our Oxera colleagues on the ground in Paris. In recent months, we have been delighted to welcome Professor Ryan Williams—an expert in corporate finance, and particularly in valuation, financial institutions, risk management, and law and finance—who is a Professeur Affilié at the Université Paris–Dauphine.

Oxera Partner Dr Luis Correia da Silva remarked that ‘economics is playing an ever-more-important role in decision-making in Europe and across the world’, and that France is no exception. The rise of complex competition issues, including those in state aid, mergers, and acquisitions, are ‘demanding more economic insight than ever before’.

Commenting on Pascale’s departure, Managing Partner Dr Helen Jenkins said that ‘the French Competition Authority are fortunate to have such a talented economist joining their team’, and that on a personal level ‘she will be missed by everyone at Oxera’.

Pascale said that she feels ‘honoured to have worked for a firm that is rooted in economic excellence and integrity’ and with people who have ‘genuine passion and care for what they do’. She added her thanks to all of the clients she has worked with over the years and to the colleagues who have supported her career.

Pascale will be joining the French Competition Authority on 18 January 2021.
